In Review: How to Draw a Rhinoceros

How-to-Draw-a-RhinocerosIn time for your fall reading lists, may I recommend Kate Sutherland’s debut poetry collection How to Draw a Rhinoceros? Because it’s good, and packed with pachyderms. And I mean, that cover.

Read my review for Arc here, and enjoy the remainder of summer, wherever you are.

In Review: The Year of Our Beautiful Exile

The-Year-of-Our-Beautiful-ExileThe best thing about reviewing is coming across new favourites, and I have a feeling Monica Kidd will achieve such status for me. I reviewed her latest book The Year of Our Beautiful Exile for Arc, and you can read everything I thought about it here.

Also, if you’re one of those people who pays close attention to the feel of a book in your hands, this one is a winner. Gaspereau Press makes such beautiful objets d’art.

New Year, New Work

0889713014Howdy, 2016! I’ve gotten behind on my news, so I shall jump in directly.

First off, I reviewed Elaine Woo’s striking Cycling with the Dragon for Room Magazine. Check out the full review here.

Secondly, I’ve had my first non-fiction piece selected for publication, so I’ll be posting more about that as the project develops. Suffice to say, I’m pretty excited.

And lastly, I’ve been chipping away at my resolutions for the year. My apartment is slowly getting an overhaul, thanks to Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Anyone else experience a thrill when getting rid of disused items? Just me? Okay.

Hope 2016 has been treating you well so far!
